I’m Too Young for Menopause

May 1, 2009

Ok, intriguing title I know, especially because I’m a guy. But this isn’t about me. This is about my wife, Charlotte. More to the point, this is her story about how seeking natural remedies instead of traditional pharmaceutical hormones changed her life. So, with that being said, I will step aside and let my wife do the talking:

From Empowher.com:

I have so many friends who think they are too young to be menopausal. I’m 44 and women in their early 40s tend to have this perception that they are too young to start this process. The reality I have found is that it starts even before the 40s, we just may not see obvious signs (well…not always obvious to us).

Periods become erratic and the body can ache maybe it’s difficult to lose weight or can’t resist the sugar. Sound familiar?

As I approached 42 I had this crazy 6-week period that suddenly turned into blood clots. It freaked me out, but turns out that’s what happens sometimes.

The doctor told me I could go on the pill, or I could have an ablation or I could go on progesterone. He wanted me to take the progesterone right away to stop the bleeding.

To all my readers, men and women, I highly recommend you go to www.Empower.com if you’re seeking any sort of information on women’s health issues. Before you ask, I’m not benefiting in any way by recommending them. I recommend them because I know the site’s owner, as he is a great friend of mine and I know how deeply he cares about women’s health. I also know that the early interviews he was doing for the site ended up saving his life.

There are plenty of websites out there dispensing medical advice, but if you’re looking for one dedicated to women’s issues, Empowher is the place to go.
